There is an on-going controversy in regards to the differences, if any, in the midst of counsel and leaders. So how does one distinguish between leading and management? An individual can be a big leader, a great manager, or both, but each requires the program line of slightly different skill sets and competencies. It’s important to get what context is most appropriate to the situation or plenty one may find themselves in and execute a leaders or management posture. This requires one to be drudge and aware of their environment and their personnel.
“Management” may rely on positional power and “ leading” may rely on personal power. The late Peter F. Drucker states; “Management is doing things right; leadership is doing right things.” (Drucker, n.d.) A manager may need noble positional power to be effective. Strength of leadership may depend on strength of influence. Management produces revisal and consistency. leaders produces change and movement. A leader’s identity does not depend upon their position within the organization.
Leadership and management embroil influence, working with people, and working with effective goal management. Managers involved in influencing a group of employees to meet its goals are operating(a) low leadership. Leaders involved in planning, organizing, staffing or checkerling, are operating within management.
Management without leadership uses status and power to control the workforce and its resources. This power without leadership skills is overt and can a good deal prompt resistance. It does not invoke voluntary loyalty and commitment. Management’s primary goal is to ensure that the task is accomplished.
