Many novels that are read today are enliven from different aspects of the past or the present generations, being that it is the ethnical lifestyle of a certain group of people, or events that make believe become historically famous. Beowulf is the perfect example of an epic poem that was influenced or written approximately the Anglo-Saxon time period. From the construction of the hamlet in which people lived in, to the characteristics of the main character, this classic is dripping in references to the Anglo-Saxon time period in which it was written. Although Beowulf was written centuries ago, the epic brings to life the Anglo-Saxon time period we know genuinely little about and allows the reader to become knowledgeable about an obscure period of time while becoming indulged in a fascinating story.
In the year 410 C.E., Britain gained their independence from capital of Italy when the Roman militarys withdrawal and return to Italy. As a result, the people from the northerly, the Saxons, began to attack Britain. Due to these attacks, Britain received suffice from a group of Roman warriors who were called the Foedarati until the year 450 C.E. On this year, the Foedarati began to prehend the territories of the Southern and Eastern shores of Britain in which they caused the British to move towards the North and the West (Anglo-Saxon England).



Ten years later, many familys began migrating to England including the Angles from Denmark, Saxons from Germany, and Jutes in which they became know as the Anglo-Saxons (Anglo-Saxon England).
The Anglo-Saxon tribes were now settled on the isle of Britain in which their territory was divided into septette separate tribes. In Beowulf, like in reality, the Anglo-Saxon territory was divided into seven separate tribes that were govern by an Earl in which King Hrothgar is the Earl of the tribe called the Danes. These tribes were centered on a system called Comitatus, in which they were ruled by the kings who were known as the Earls or the Thanes.
