Criminal wrongdoings have been dealt with multifariously throughout the ages. The death punishment has been a part of societies for centuries. many times execution was unjust, but in most cases it was sentenced to those who committed the most heinous of crimes. As time has gone on however, the support of capital punishment has eroded with groups such as the Innocence Project. Capital punishment, however, remains to be an appropriate course of study of punishment for someone convicted of capital crimes, and may be sound in deterring such offenses. 
Capital punishment has existed throughout narration even as early as 450 B.C.  Capital punishment existed in the legal codes of the ancient Middle Eastern kingdoms (CAMPION 2008). oddment was usually sentenced to those who committed homicide and religious or sexual offenses. In the Old Testament it states, whoever sheds the air of man, by man shall his blood be shed (Gn 9.6). The Israelites took the death penalty very seriously. These methods are obviously not apply today due to their inhumane and cruel nature. Along with the Israelites, Babylonians (Code of Hammurabi 2008) and Assyrians as well used capital punishment. While the Hittite kingdom did as well, they only sentenced death to slaves or crimes against the king. During 7th century B.C., the Draconian code of Athens surprisingly used the death penalty for all crimes committed.
