1.0 Forestry didactics in Nigeria: Past and Present
Forestry education was and is still pivotal to study development. The large fledge forestry education began in Ibadan in 1963, further forestry is now offered by many of Universities, Colleges and Vocational training institutes in Nigeria. Nigerian professional foresters were rare before 1960 when Nigeria became independent from the British. The impudently freedom calls for development in all sectors of the countrys economy including the forestry sector, but among the numbers of foresters needed only 27 of 82 professional foresters in the country as at then were Nigerians this calls for the need for a home-grown forester which was imperative as those trained abroad could not manage tropical ecosystems successfully. The University of Ibadan (UI) was the starting line university to offer forestry education in Nigeria- It was at a m the regional training centre for forestry, and students from other African Countries were to a fault trained at UI. Virtually all home-grown foresters before 1977 graduate from UI.
However recent educational revolution has enhanced the setoff of forestry education in many institutions.

Interest is the foremost of all the factors guiding a choice of career. This interest is often built on roughly other factors, and base on the fact and feedback from students, lecturers, parents, and the general public, the factors pointed break through include:

It was however noted that forestry is under-represented in secondary schooldays curriculum, and teachers seldom mention it to students because the public awareness of the course is real low and the small to medium scale enterprises in forestry brace not gained much popularity.
